North Bend Resources
Though not incorporated until 1909, early explorers started calling this place home in the 1850’s. Spacious grasslands beckoned to be tilled and rewarded its farmers with plentiful orchards and crops. The little town went through several name changes in its early years, starting with Snoqualmie Prairie Acres and Mountain View before settling on North Bend (sparked by the fact that the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River takes a “north bend” near the town’s center). By the 1880’s, the little town had built up their community with stores, restaurants, and travel lodges to accommodate exhausted trekkers heading across Snoqualmie Pass to or from Central and Eastern Washington.
North Bend is a naturally expedient location for year-round activities of all kinds. Summer hiking and biking trails are endless, including the popular Mt. Si Trail, a steep 8-mile hike with incredible views – once you reach the peak at 4,000 feet! Nearby winter snow sports are plentiful and in line with those found at world-class peaks. The Summit at Snoqualmie offers inner tubing fun for the whole family, ski and snowboarding lessons, as well as a myriad of employment opportunities for those snow lovers who really just can’t get enough of it.
